Keeping the Holiday Spirit All Year Long

Welcome and Happy Holidays all! In the spirit of the season people have a tendency to be kinder to one another. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we practiced this level of care and kindness, all year long?

Below are some tips on how to practice the same Holiday Kindness every day, because we shouldn’t be on our best behavior only when think Santa is watching.

First, we can start by treating everyone with whom we interact with warmth regardless of who they are. Whether a stranger, colleague, or friends and family practice treating them warmth and kindness. It is to our benefit to be mindful of how we treat and interact with others. It is truly surprising how a genuine smile and greeting can improve our interactions and reception from others.

Second, make an effort to understand instead of judge. The old saying goes “We never truly understand another person until we’ve walk a mile in their shoes”. Although, that is nearly impossible to do in the literal and figurative sense, there is something to be said for seeking understanding. When in doubt ask questions to get a better understanding of where someone is coming from. By seeking deeper understanding we able to create deeper level of connectedness with others.

Finally, practice empathy and inclusiveness. The Holiday Season for all its glittery joyous splendor, is also the most difficult time of the year for some. This is the time of year people miss loved ones, most, and feelings of loneliness and despair are amplified. If you know someone who struggles during the holiday season be intentional about including them. However, this practice shouldn’t be limited to just holidays. She should strive to practice inclusiveness at every opportunity.

If you find yourself struggling during the holidays or any time of year please contact us at The Balance Life LLC (256)258-7777. Wishing every one of you a healthy and joyous holiday season!

Anyone who knows me well, knows I am not a fan of clutter. I find that keeping things organized and tidy helps me feel calm and relaxed. There’s actually a lot of research to support that living in lots of mess and clutter directly impacts our mental well-being.
