Anna Themas, LPC
I often tell people that counseling can be one of the most valuable investments they make in themselves. At some point in life, most of us encounter experiences, relationships, losses, fears, or expectations that leave us feeling stuck. We know we want something to change, but have difficulty getting there. My role is to help you navigate those obstacles so you can move toward a life that feels more meaningful, connected and fulfilling.
My path to becoming a counselor was shaped by both professional and personal experiences. Through those experiences, I discovered a deep appreciation for the resilience of the human spirit and the power of being truly seen and understood. Today, being a therapist remains one of the greatest privileges of my life. I am honored each time a client trusts me with their story. I believe meaningful change happens within a safe and authentic therapeutic relationship where clients feel accepted, challenged and supported.
I primarily work with adults and have extensive experience helping individuals who have experienced trauma, including survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, homicide loss, and adverse childhood experiences. I also have extensive experience supporting clients with symptoms of anxiety, grief, life transitions, reproductive trauma, codependency, relationship concerns, and the pressures that often accompany success and high expectations. I am passionate about working with professionals who carry a great deal of responsibility for others, including fellow helping professionals, as well as women as they navigate the demands, expectations, and evolving roles that often accompany different stages of life. Together we work toward finding balance, healing and meaning during life’s challenges.
My counseling approach is grounded in the belief that every person possesses strengths and resources that can support healing and growth. While my work is influenced by existential, attachment based, person centered and cognitive behavioral approaches, I believe that therapy should be tailored to the individual rather than forcing people into a particular model.
Outside of counseling, I enjoy reading, exploring creative pursuits, and time with my husband and children. One of our favorite ways to spend time together is on the river with our dog, Mercury. Feel free to email me today. I’d love the opportunity to work with you!
