Life is often met with unexpected challenges. Have you or your child been struggling with connectedness with your family and friends? Have you or your child been met with challenges when it comes to completing routine tasks including those that are school/work related? Have you or child been feeling anxious, sad, or even worthless? Have you had difficulty communicating with your spouse? If so, allow me to assist you with improving your overall quality of life.
My areas of interest include working with pre-teens and teens and the difficulties that often arise in this critical phase of life, communication within the family unit, self-esteem issues, anxiety, depression, and non-suicidal self-injury.
My quest for helping others began as an adolescent myself, and I decided to pursue a degree in psychology when I was a senior in high school. While pursuing my Master’s Degree, I began interning in the substance abuse field at Bradford Health Services, which led to my first job as a counselor. While there, I was exposed to a wide variety of issues with adolescents and adults that come before, during, and after substance abuse. The skills obtained in the substance abuse field were tantamount to my work with current and potential clients in individual therapy.
My therapy approach is person-centered and solution-focused. I also rely heavily on motivational interviewing, positive psychology, and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) techniques to assist clients with making desired changes. I believe that it is important to meet a client where he or she is in order to establish a trusting therapeutic relationship. It is not until that trust is established that the true work can begin.
I welcome the opportunity to help you on your journey to a state of lasting happiness. To make an appointment, email me or give me a call at (256) 258-7777 x 107.
